After surviving a traumatic experience in her youth, Asha is determined to complete her last semester of college, but the trauma of her past is never far behind. She struggles with PTSD that manifests as vivid and horrifying hallucinations, constantly making her unsure of her reality. Though she has her cousin, Juwan, for support, Asha’s tentative sense of security is shattered and her life interrupted when she finds out the man responsible for her trauma was released from prison without her knowledge.

 

Asha spirals, unable to focus on anything but the looming possibility that he’s looking for her to finish what he started. As Asha grapples with her resurfacing fears, her only ‘friend’, Keana, forces her and Juwan to hang out with Bellamy, the campus freak, for her own academic gain. But Bellamy’s unsettling fascination with the supernatural—particularly a bloodthirsty entity named Malakai—soon becomes impossible to ignore. As Asha, Juwan, and Keana get drawn into Bellamy’s dark obsession, they come to a horrifying realization: Malakai is real, and he’s fixated on making Asha his.
